Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin

After realizing McMahon was not going to work, I found out about a job opportunity for the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin located in Keshena, WI.

Job Interview

I went to the interview and all the other candidates were there also. I believe I was the only true GIS professional that applied. I was interviewed by Todd Every, the Community Development director and Bobbie Caldwell, the current GIS person. Eventually I was offered the job and started on December 26, 2007. This would be my first GIS job that was pure GIS and not as a consultant, doing work that was for my benefit.

The Drive

Once again it would require a lengthy drive, this time about 45 minutes, most of it on Highway 29.

Esri

When I started the job I realized that all the mapping and data collection was done with AutoCAD and not really GIS. I knew I was going to have to move all processes to Esri and luckily all Indian Tribes have access to all Esri products for free though a BIA User Agreement.
