A Nervous City
When the news broke that the NFL awarded Green Bay for the 2025 draft, the whole town was a buzz. As the draft was approaching so many people started to get worried and excited. People thought it would cripple the city, while others were looking to get rich renting out their houses. I just wanted to be a part of it and planned to attend all three days. Yes I worried about parking as it looked like there were going to be some that wanted to make some money parking cars.Opening Day
Before the draft, my season ticket holder neighbor (Seats 1 & 2), Mark Rasmussen wondered if he could stay at my house and then we would travel to the draft together with his brother, Bob. When he got to tow, he let me know they had purchased parking spots in a parking lot close to the draft area. We got to the entrance before it opened and made it in to the draft area no problem. We did a few of the exhibits they had (Super Bowl rings, Lomardi Trophy pictures and such). We then decided to grab a bite to eat at Hinterland, which was nice, until I needed to use a bathroom. Well, they grossly underestimated the number of bathrooms and porta-potty's needed. I ended up going into Lambeau Field using the enterance I use on game day and the bathroom right behind my seats for games. |

With the opening round getting close, we made our way to the stage and picked a spot about in the middle of the standing area. Really didn't want to push through people and if we went any closer it might have been too packed. We got to see the Packers select Matthew Golden, the first wide receiver chosen in the 1st round since 2002. We then left the draft and beat the rush back and had no problems getting out.
Best Barbecue...EVER!!
For letting him stay at my place, he bought along barbecue from a competition he had just participated in and some of his sauce that he sells on his website. He brought along, burnt ends, pulled pork, chicken, and brisquet. Everything was so good, nothing like I ever had before and the burnt ends were absolutely to die for. It was a sad day when all the barbecue was eaten. |

Second Day
For Friday and the second day of the draft, I was on my own. I just started driving on the north side of Lombardi and parked on the street, maybe 4 blocks away. Better than I thought and it was free. I made it into the draft area and decided to try and get as close as possible. In getting there early, I made it to the fence that separated the reserved/seated area and the general public, I could not get any closer. I then waited, A LONG TIME, for the 2nd and 3rd round picks to start, but it filled in completely around me. After the Packers selected Anthony Belton, OT in the second round, I thought about leaving, but as I looked through the crowd, I thought it would be tough to get through and decided to wait. As the third round progressed a group of people said they were leaving and I took the chance to have them make a path through the crowd. I did at least see the Packers take Savion Williams, WR in the third round. |

Third and Last Day
For the final day, Mary and I made our way to the draft area and selected a spot kind of close but not the front. We did a little of the draft and then decided to get something to eat. The amount of food places was also obnoxiously underestimated too. When we finally got our food and a place to sit, the line probably stretched to over an hour wait. We got to see the Packers select Barryn Sorrell, EDGE, who just happened to be at the draft and was able to come out on the stage. Again, left a little early and beat the rush. |

All in all, not a problem with people and parking. So glad I was able to participate in the draft and especially since it was in my hometown. I was interviewed on the Saturday and I said how I was happy that Green Bay showed up and the city put on a good show.
