From a very young age, the sport of Land Speed Record has always thrilled me. I loved to read about the vehicles that would go to the salt flats (Bonneville, Black Rock Desert) and the main object, go insanely fast. When I became a jet engine mechaninc, the vehicles powered by jet engines took the main focus. I was especially interested in Craig Breedlove and his Spiriti of America land speed record cars. I was able to see the original 1964 Spirit of America at the Musuem of Science & Industry in Chicago, IL and the Spirit of America-Sonic 1 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
